The earth is divided into various time zones based on the face of the earth that is projected towards the sun at a given time. The GMT (Greenwich meantime) is considered to be as the Co-ordinated universal time, which is basically the time at Greenwich (UK). The time at various time zones across the globe are measured based upon the GMT.
